In my opinion, this is the most important section of this entire book and I cannot emphasize enough just how critical quality training and preplanning is when it comes to vehicle extrication. Whilst this may seem obvious, my experience leads me to believe that even today in many countries the amount, frequency and quality of training can be hugely improved. Of course, that is a very general statement and does not reflect every organization or individual and there are pockets of excellence, but having worked extensively all around the world, the one recurring theme amongst operational responders is the lack of training and quality information they are exposed to, how often this is reviewed or updated, how it is delivered and by whom.
