VEHICLE SHUTDOWN

VEHICLE SHUTDOWN

The removal of power from vehicles is something we have been familiar with for many years and it has become part of our established protocols. Isolation of the 12v power on all vehicles and since 1997, the high voltage system on hybrid vehicles has principally been driven by the need to isolate airbags and SRS systems and reduce the chance of electric shock (in the case of hybrids). Since 2010, the emergence of wholly electric vehicles has meant that we have had to become more aware of how to isolate the systems on these vehicles in order to continue to work safely on scene. Although there are many electric vehicles on the market globally, the shutdown procedures across all manufacturers are very similar.
