STABILITY INITAL ACCESS

STABILITY INITAL ACCESS

Once it has been decided that vehicle relocation is not necessary (or after vehicle relocation has been completed) vehicles involved in the incident should be stabilized in line with the nominated extrication plan. ‘In line’ means that steps taken to achieve stability should not impede progress later on in the incident.

INITIAL PATIENT CONTACT

INITIAL PATIENT CONTACT

Early initial access not only allows the medic to carry out an initial survey and perform any lifesaving interventions (e.g. preserve the airway) but it also allows the level of entrapment to be established. Additionally, it provides information about the condition, location and orientation of the patient. This is vitally important, as without this information

the incident commander cannot fully confirm their extrication plan. VEHICLE EXTRICATION - THE NEXT GENERATION provides a full description, data sheet and FULL-LENGTH HD video link to this and many other popular processes and techniques.
